Our team here at K4 Trailer, RV & Truck Accessories has been working in the trailer business since 1998. We are thoroughly familiar with the various types of trailers available, and we want to help you keep your trailer in excellent condition.
Although we highly recommend visiting us for routine trailer maintenance services, there are some things you can do in between service appointments to keep your trailer in good shape. In this article, we’ll share some essential trailer maintenance steps that can help your trailer last as long as possible.
- Tire Maintenance – A key part of trailer maintenance involves taking care of the tires. Check the tire pressure before every trip, and add air as needed to make sure the tires are inflated to the recommended pressure level. You should also rotate your trailer tires regularly to ensure even wear.
- Coupling Maintenance – Another essential part of trailer maintenance involves checking the coupling and hitch. Inspect the coupling and the hitch before and after every trip to ensure it remains in good condition. If the coupling is damaged at all, get it fixed right away before attempting to haul anything else.
- Brake Maintenance –You need to make sure your trailer’s brakes remain in good condition or you will be putting yourself and other drivers on the road at serious risk. Get your brakes serviced once or twice a year (depending on how much you use your trailer) to ensure they remain in optimal condition.
